Botox is an injectable substance used to smooth facial wrinkles. FDA approved for removing the wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes, the horizontal ones along the forehead, and the vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, it is a widely successful skin rejuvenation tool for both men and women.

The treatment takes only about 10-15 minutes to perform, and patients can return to work or other daily tasks immediately afterward. A fine needle is used to inject the Botox directly into the muscle in the wrinkled area. This relaxes the muscle, thereby lessening its pull on the overlying skin. As the skin subsequently relaxes, the wrinkle flattens out, revealing a smooth, rejuvenated surface.

There is very little discomfort associated with Botox injections. Many patients report just a slight sting, comparable to that of a bug bite. Following treatment, redness may occur, but only temporarily. The results won’t be apparent immediately, but usually take 3-8 days to take effect, and they can then last for 4-6 months. Patients can return for follow up Botox treatments when they notice the results fading. Previous cases show that the more treatments of Botox Miami patients have, the longer the results of each subsequent treatment last, and the less often they are necessary in the future.
